The Refining Process

There are many times in life when the pressures of living can catch up to you. These times are extremely aggravating because they have the tendency to make you feel like you aren’t progressing in life. The growth slows down in these times. The nuances of life get amplified. The mind that once was so clear begins to get polluted. Be assured that God’s word will never fail you. His word lets you know that the refining process can only be found in the depths of change. Where filtration from “pollution” or “contamination” is needed. Take a moment and digest the words contaminate and pollute. Every single person alive on this earth makes mistakes. Those mistakes define a decision that you made in a given moment. What they do not define is who you are called to be in life. The Believer of today needs to know that the sin component of life is not the measuring stick of your growth as a believer. The refining process defined means to bring to a finer state or form through purification. The act of purifying is to free from pollution, contaminates, or adulterates. To purge.

To unpack this lesson further there are some facts that need to be established. Simply put, this message is derived from God’s word. God’s word is what will test and refine you in life. When you make the decision to become a believer in Christ Jesus you now have faith, on a heart level, that Jesus Christ is your Savior. The transition from hearing about God to believing in God happens on the inside of you. God’s word flows through the digestive system of your existence. His word is the foundation of truth that never waivers. As your life begins to reflect His word, you will know that you are indeed in the refining process. Your thoughts change. Your responses change. Your perspective changes. The refining process compliments your new identity in Christ. It will not always feel good to have to figure out life along the way. The uncertainties of an unpredictable future can weigh heavily on you. The refining process forces you to abandon your old mindset and your old habits. The refining process attracts new levels, new blessings, and rightfully so... new situations that can prove to be problematic for you. Focus on the purpose of the refining process when life gets uncomfortable for you. That purpose is for you to depend on God’s ability to lead you and not for you to lean on your own ability to predict the future that you think God wants for you. Be flexible, be patient, be faithful, and most importantly be a believer in the unknown path of a known God. Though you cannot see oxygen, you believe that oxygen is what allows you to breath. Though God’s Spirit resides on the inside of you, believe that what He allows you to go through is a part of the refining process that grows you into the person that He has destined you to be.
